Is Macca's Open on Christmas Day? Holiday Hours Guide

Most Macca’s restaurants in Australia stay open over the Christmas and New Year break, which makes them one of the easiest places to grab a feed on a public holiday. Hours aren’t the same everywhere, though, so it pays to check before you head out.

Is Macca’s open on Christmas Day?

Yes — most Macca’s restaurants trade on Christmas Day. Many 24-hour drive-thrus keep running as usual, while others (especially those in shopping centres) close or open shorter hours. Food court restaurants usually follow the centre’s hours, and most centres close on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

Expect most restaurants to be open on all three days. Opening times can shift around public holidays, so a restaurant that’s normally 24 hours may run reduced hours on the day.

Australia Day

Australia Day (26 January) is a normal trading day for most Macca’s restaurants, with some running public holiday hours.

How to check your local Macca’s holiday hours

  • The McDonald’s app — the restaurant finder shows each restaurant’s hours, and is the most reliable place to check closer to the day.
  • Your map app — restaurant listings usually show holiday hours, but they’re not always updated.
  • Call ahead if you’re relying on one restaurant, for example on a long road trip.

Is breakfast served on public holidays?

Breakfast runs on public holidays at restaurants that are open, but times can vary on the day. See our Macca’s breakfast hours guide for the usual times and the breakfast menu for prices.

Delivery over the holidays

Delivery through the app and delivery partners generally runs over the break, but expect fewer available restaurants and longer waits on Christmas Day. Delivery prices are usually higher than in-store.
